Whistleblowing Policy
Last updated: January 2026
1. Introduction
The National Static Caravan Owners Union (NSCOU) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of openness, integrity, and accountability in all that we do. This Whistleblowing Policy explains how staff, volunteers, members, and others connected to NSCOU can report serious concerns about wrongdoing or misconduct in a safe and confidential way.
2. What is Whistleblowing?
Whistleblowing is when someone raises a concern about possible wrongdoing or risk that affects others. This may include:
- Fraud, corruption, or misuse of funds
- Criminal activity or breach of legal obligation
- Health and safety risks
- Bullying, harassment, or discrimination
- Abuse or neglect of vulnerable individuals
- Deliberate concealment of wrongdoing
3. Our Commitment to You
NSCOU takes all whistleblowing concerns seriously. We will:
- Treat your concern seriously and confidentially
- Protect you from victimisation or retaliation
- Investigate the issue promptly and fairly
- Keep you informed, where appropriate, about the progress of the investigation
You do not need proof before raising a concern — but all reports should be made honestly and in good faith.
4. How to Raise a Concern
If you have any concerns or wish to report possible wrongdoing, please contact us confidentially, we’re here to listen and help.
Where possible, please include relevant details such as dates, names, and any supporting evidence. Anonymous reports will also be considered, though they may be harder to investigate.
5. Confidentiality
All whistleblowing reports are handled sensitively and in confidence. Your identity will not be disclosed without your consent, unless required by law or necessary for investigation.
6. Protection for Whistleblowers
NSCOU will not tolerate any form of retaliation or discrimination against anyone who raises a genuine concern. Individuals who victimise or intimidate whistleblowers will face appropriate action.
7. False or Malicious Allegations
Concerns raised in good faith will always be protected. However, making deliberately false or malicious allegations may result in appropriate action being taken.
8. Review of Policy
This policy will be reviewed annually by NSCOU’s leadership to ensure it remains effective and up to date. Any changes will be published on our website.
