Anti-Corruption & Bribery Policy
Last updated: January 2026
1. Purpose
The National Static Caravan Owners Union (NSCOU) is committed to conducting all activities with honesty, integrity, and in full compliance with the UK Bribery Act 2010 and all applicable anti-corruption laws. This policy outlines our zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption in any form.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals working with or representing NSCOU — including committee members, volunteers, contractors, partners, and anyone acting on our behalf.
3. What is Bribery?
A bribe is any offer, promise, gift, or payment made to gain an improper advantage, influence a decision, or reward favourable treatment. Bribery can take many forms, including:
- Offering or receiving money, gifts, or hospitality to influence decisions
- Donations made with the expectation of a specific outcome
- Unfair preferential treatment in contracts, tenders, or memberships
- Facilitation payments — small unofficial payments to speed up routine actions
4. Our Commitment
NSCOU will not tolerate bribery, corruption, or any behaviour that compromises fairness or trust. We commit to:
- Acting with honesty and transparency in all dealings
- Rejecting any form of bribe or inducement
- Declaring and managing all conflicts of interest
- Maintaining accurate financial records and reporting
- Training staff and volunteers on ethical conduct
5. Gifts & Hospitality
Modest gifts or hospitality may be acceptable if they are reasonable, transparent, and not intended to influence a decision. Any gift or benefit that could be perceived as a bribe must be refused or reported to NSCOU’s committee.
6. Reporting Concerns
Anyone connected with NSCOU is encouraged to report suspected bribery or corruption immediately. Reports can be made in confidence to:
All concerns will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly, in line with our Whistleblowing Policy.
7. Consequences of Breach
Any individual found to have engaged in bribery or corrupt behaviour may face disciplinary action, termination of involvement with NSCOU, and possible legal prosecution.
8. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains up to date and effective in promoting integrity, accountability, and compliance with the law.
